With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Barbara Waters, who left us peacefully after a joyful, happy life on November 20, 2024. As in her life, she was surrounded by love during the last few weeks, when she experienced a rapidly advancing illness. She was 70 years old.
Barbara was the cherished wife of Sandy for 51 years, a marriage that was a true love story. She was so honored to be the mother to three beautiful daughters: Jody (Jeff) Polson, Shanna (Chad) Calander, and Heather (Dan) Robben. She also took immense joy in being the grandmother to eight bright and beautiful grandchildren: Bryce (Sarah Polsinger), Nolan, Chase, Lizzy, Lillian, Nevaeh, Hoyt, and Cole, who brought her endless pride and joy, as well as laughter and love. Barbara will be so missed by all, including her beloved dogs, Ginger and Emma.
Daughter of Jerry and Vivie Bain, Barbara was the second child and first girl in a family of seven children. She was deeply loved by her siblings: Tom, Sue, John, Richard, Mary and Jeanne and her in-laws: Pat, Curtis and Gary Waters. She was delighted to be an aunt to over 40 nieces and nephews. Throughout her life, Barbara was known for her extraordinary ability to care for and uplift those around her. She had a remarkable gift for connecting with others. Whether friends, family, or acquaintances, Barbara spread warmth, love, and acceptance wherever she went. Her generous spirit left a lasting impression on all who crossed her path.
Barbara was a survivor of colon and breast cancer. She advocated for others experiencing colon cancer, a community where she found strength and camaraderie with those who shared her path. More importantly, she spread hope, love and strength, and was a tireless supporter of others on their cancer journey.
Barbara had a rich work life including as a longtime rep for UndercoverWear where she traveled the world and formed lifelong friendships. She made her parties fun and was able to make people feel welcome.
Though she has left us, Barbara's love, laughter, and kindness will continue to resonate through the lives she touched. She will forever be missed by her family, friends, and all those who were lucky enough to be part of her world.
A Celebration of Life to honor Barbara will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024 at Robbinsdale Parkway, United Church of Christ, 4200 Lake Road Avenue, Robbinsdale, MN 55422. Visitation begins at 10 am with the service at 11 am. As Barbara’s favorite color was blue, feel free to wear blue to her celebration.
In lieu of flowers, her family would prefer donations to the family who will share those donations with organizations that meant the world to Barbara.
